About the position

The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician position is a per diem role located in Victor, NY, where the individual will assist in the nonprofessional and clerical aspects of managing and operating the outpatient functions of the pharmacy department. This role is crucial in ensuring that all medication-associated duties are performed under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, specifically Registered Pharmacists. The technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the pharmacy's operations, including customer service, medication preparation, and electronic record management. The technician will work full-time hours between 7 AM and 6 PM from Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturday mornings from 9 AM to 1 PM. The position requires flexibility in decision-making and prioritizing assignments, as well as the ability to proactively resolve problems and recommend continuous quality improvements. The technician will also need to demonstrate effective communication skills, both in gathering and disseminating information. Daily responsibilities include cashier duties such as retrieving orders, verifying patient information, and processing transactions. The technician will also be involved in adding patient information to electronic medical records, inputting prescriptions, processing refills, and handling basic insurance billing. Additionally, the technician will measure and fill containers with medications, ensure proper medication storage, and restock shelves as needed. The role requires a commitment to impeccable customer service and adherence to the health system's goals and expectations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalency required.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
  • NYS Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
  • 1-2 years pharmacy experience preferred.
