About the position

The Outpatient Pharmacy Tech Trainee position at Kaiser Permanente involves working under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist to perform various non-discretionary tasks related to pharmaceutical services. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient operation of the outpatient pharmacy, including packaging, labeling, and preparing medications for patients. The position is part-time and requires a commitment to providing culturally sensitive service to members and customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform packaging, manipulative, repetitive, and other non-discretionary tasks under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
• Remove drugs from stock and prepare them for dispensing.
• Count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals as required.
• Place products into containers and affix labels onto them.
• Package and repackage medications as necessary.
• Assist with other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician License (California) is required.
• Successful completion of the Kaiser Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Program is required.
• Working knowledge of current drug forms, dosage strengths, and generic & trade name equivalents is necessary.
• Knowledge of Federal & State laws/regulations regarding pharmaceutical services is required.
• Ability to learn and operate the pharmacy computer system and other equipment is essential.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching is necessary.
• Ability to read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information is required.
• Must pass entrance exam and background check.
