About the position

The Outpatient Supervisor for Patient Access Services (PAS) at Penn Medicine is responsible for overseeing the registration, financial counseling, and cashier functions to ensure efficient patient registration and authorization processes. This role involves managing staff, resolving customer service issues, and ensuring compliance with departmental and hospital policies. The supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the hospital's cash position and supporting the overall mission of Penn Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain departmental schedule for all PAS areas and ensure adequate coverage for all scheduled shifts.
  • Follow, implement, and enforce all department policies and procedures of Penn Medicine Princeton Health.
  • Establish and implement new department procedures and improve existing ones.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff members to ensure a competent workforce.
  • Open tickets for hardware, software, and access issues and work with IT to resolve them.
  • Evaluate performance of direct reports and prepare annual performance appraisals.
  • Assign Patient Work Queues to staff and monitor their progress.
  • Monitor work queue reports and address any issues with staff.
  • Review the CFB Dashboard daily and address outstanding issues with the Patient Access Manager.
  • Support scheduled system downtime and educate staff accordingly.
  • Be on call at least once a month.
  • Take all deposits from Patient Access staff and enter them into Penn Cash daily.
  • Facilitate daily departmental ED huddles and attend clinical huddles.
  • Participate in weekly Patient Experience huddles.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business or equivalent work experience in a hospital admissions setting.
