About the position

The Paid Outpatient Therapist Intern position at Mentor South Bay involves providing outreach counseling and support to individuals, families, and groups. This role is designed for those pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, offering hands-on experience in a collaborative environment dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve their fullest potential. Interns will engage in various therapeutic activities, maintain clinical documentation, and adhere to professional standards while contributing to the mission of helping people live well.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach counseling to individual, group, family, and couples.
  • Support the development and implementation of service plans.
  • Consult with outside agencies, referral sources, and other professionals as necessary.
  • Attend supervision, staff meetings, and consultations as required.
  • Initiate, maintain, and complete clinical files and records for each client, including initial evaluations, assessments, treatment plans, session notes, transfer and termination summaries and other required documentation.
  • Conduct educational sessions for children served, families, and foster parents.
  • Adhere to company policies, administrative directives, therapy guidelines, codes of conduct, professional standards, and all office and administrative procedures.
  • Respond to client emergencies as needed.
  • Attend court hearings, CORE evaluations, and other meetings as required.
  • Adhere to provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 119, Section 51A (Mandated Reporter); report all occurrences immediately to the clinic.
  • Adhere to clinical recommendations from clinical administration and maintain confidentiality in all clinical matters.
  • Remain compliant with billing and documentation in accordance with direct service requirement.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related degree that will lead to licensure in social work or counseling.
  • Completion and proof of a Master's level practicum.
  • Experience in the field of clinical mental health.
  • A valid license and reliable vehicle.
