About the position

The position is responsible for recruitment activities with designated state responsibility of contractual goals and the daily supervision of assigned sites at the Dayton Job Corps Center. The center's mission is to educate and train young people, ages 16-24, for successful careers in the nation's fastest-growing industries. The program provides students with access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years, helping them complete their high school education and transition into meaningful jobs or further education.

Responsibilities

  • Screens potential new hires and makes recommendations for hire to the Project Director.
  • Provides direction to staff and monitors staff performance.
  • Provides support (i.e., training, monitoring, etc.) by telephone, video conferencing, and announced/unannounced visits.
  • Complies with all management, corporate, and government directives and operating procedures.
  • Models, mentors, and monitors a positive normative culture.
  • Responsible for quality control on assigned contracts.
  • Ensures that program activity and billing goals are met.
  • Coordinates and monitors OA and eligibility determination functions.
  • Performs recruitment services when required within assigned territory.
  • Participates in the maintenance of community linkages; networks with the business community and public agencies.
  • Maintains accountability of staff and property; adheres to safety practices and performs safety inspections in areas of responsibility.
  • Acts as a responsible custodian for assigned contract property.
  • Recommends advertising for recruitment.
  • Ensures participant tracking where applicable.
  • Ensures that all applicants arrive at the assigned center by following established DESI procedures.
  • Provides Job Corps orientation and Job Corps overall program orientation to prospective students.
  • Establishes personal contact with referral sources, agencies, and organizations.
  • Maintains an active agency and organization referral source list.
  • Coordinates the provision of follow-up on all prospective students waiting on assignment and ensures that they keep their interests in the program.
  • Maintains good working relationship with DOL Regional Office, line staff, and corporate management.
  • Submits reports on a timely basis.
  • Assists in the development and is responsible for implementing and monitoring an effective incentive plan for each assigned contract, including goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, social science, communications, counseling, education, or closely related field plus one year of related experience, or Associate's degree in the same fields.
  • Two to three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem-solving, technology integration, communication and evaluation of information).
  • Ability to evaluate personnel under management and make recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions, and/or merit increases.
  • Participation in PRH-mandated staff training mandatory; failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
