About the position

The Outreach Athletic Trainer at Port Richmond High School is a full-time role responsible for providing athletic training services and administrative support to athletes and organizations affiliated with JAG Athletic Training. This position emphasizes health and safety in athletic environments and requires adherence to professional standards and guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the contracted JAG Athletic Training organization.
  • Provide athletic training services for athletic events and competitions.
  • Create and maintain a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Coordinate, manage, and implement medical and risk management for all athletes, including preventative and emergency care.
  • Act as the workers compensation case manager for the professional contracted team, submitting insurance information and tracking claims.
  • Document injury, illness, treatment, and rehabilitation in adherence to JAG Athletic Training policy and state standards.
  • Provide in-services and educational programs on health and fitness topics to local schools and communities.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes and families in the plan of care.
  • Collaborate with other JAG professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and physician-related services.
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties and day-to-day operations when not at the assigned outreach location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE approved program.
  • Completion of the BOC certification and maintenance of required CEUs every two years.
  • Licensed by the State of New York as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Current BLS certification and maintenance of Personal Liability Insurance.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to fluid situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sports medicine or injury management.
  • Knowledge of health and fitness education programs.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
