About the position

The Outreach Athletic Trainer at Princeton Public Schools provides comprehensive athletic training services, ensuring the health and safety of athletes. This role involves managing medical care during events, maintaining health records, and collaborating with various stakeholders to promote fitness education. Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the contracted JAG Athletic Training organization.
  • Provide AT services for athletic events and competition.
  • Create and maintain a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Coordinate, manage, and implement the medical and risk management of all athletes, including preventative care and emergency care.
  • Maintain health records for athletes affiliated with the contracted organization.
  • Act as the workers compensation case manager for the professional contracted team, submitting insurance information and tracking compensation claims.
  • Document injury, illness, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., in adherence with JAG Athletic Training policy and state licensure standards.
  • Provide in-services and educational programs on health & fitness related topics to local schools, coaches, athletes, and communities.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes and families in the plan of care.
  • Collaborate with other JAG professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and physician-related services.
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties and day-to-day operations when not at the assigned outreach location.
  • Oversee the ordering of AT supplies and equipment and maintain an up-to-date inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE Approved program.
  • Completion of the BOC certification and maintenance of the BOC-required 50 CEUs per certification period.
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Current BLS certification and maintenance of Personal Liability Insurance.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to fluid situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sports medicine and injury management.
  • Knowledge of health and fitness education programs.
