Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day recruitment activities for current and future vacancies.
  • Execute outreach activities in partnership with hiring supervisors and managers.
  • Conduct STEM outreach activities in school classrooms.
  • Present information about MnDOT at community events.
  • Coordinate and direct tours of MnDOT for school-aged children.
  • Attend career events and interact with attendees to promote job opportunities.
  • Serve as a resource in staffing, selection, classification, compensation, and contract administration.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of professional level experience in human resources, or two (2) years of paraprofessional/technical experience in human resources.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or a closely related field substitutes for one (1) year of professional experience.
  • Experience in recruitment or outreach activities sufficient to source candidates for open vacancies.
  • Experience developing effective active and passive recruitment strategies.
  • Experience with human resources staffing and interviewing or pre-screening candidates.
  • Experience using applicant tracking and human resources systems such as PeopleSoft.
  • Skill in advising jobseekers on the application and selection process.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in recruitment, retention, and workforce diversity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Government/Public Sector Human Resources experience.
  • Knowledge of the State's classification and compensation system, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements and plans.
