About the position

The Outreach Specialist - Fatherhood is responsible for community outreach and engagement with youth and adults in Staten Island, NY. This role involves educating, enrolling, and registering participants for community programs offered by United Activities Unlimited, Inc. The specialist will develop relationships with local groups and agencies, perform outreach to non-custodial fathers, and provide resources to participants, all while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement outreach plan to recruit and retain adult participants.
  • Assist with the development and growth of relationships with local community groups, programs, and agencies.
  • Effectively perform outreach and recruitment of non-custodial fathers to engage and enroll them as participants.
  • Register and enroll a minimum of 5 adult participants.
  • Outreach and engage adults in outdoor public spaces.
  • Record and manage outreach efforts and attendance for activities in an organized manner.
  • Maintain accurate outreach notes and other records in accordance with UAU and DYCD protocols.
  • Develop relationships and actively engage with single fathers acclimating back into the community.
  • Act as a credible messenger with strong community connections.
  • Communicate with and serve non-English speaking participants.
  • Provide adult resources in areas of recreation, health, civic engagement, leadership, and other enrichment activities.
  • Abide by all safety protocols as outlined by Department of Health/OCFS,DYCD and UAU.
  • Provide support and advocacy to participants.
  • Public speaking to audiences of varying sizes and create program presentations.
  • Assist team members in the delivery of daily services, including providing positive modeling, peer counseling, support, and encouragement to participants.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • 18+ years old, required
  • High School diploma or GED, required
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • 1+ year experience working with adults
  • 1 year minimum of community outreach
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, social media platforms, and email
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete work independently
  • Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed
  • Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objectives and outcomes
