About the position

The Outreach Specialist at Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is responsible for managing and delivering outreach programming in the Lincoln area, focusing on underserved girls. This role involves assessing community needs, developing program plans, recruiting and training volunteers, and collaborating with various departments to enhance program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of Girl Scouts Outreach programming in an assigned jurisdiction covering the demographic area of Lincoln.
  • Assess community demographics and program needs to determine where Outreach can be most effective.
  • Develop program plans using Girl Scouts curriculum and launch Girl Scouts programming ensuring that activities follow the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience.
  • Develop and implement Girl Scouts outreach programming for underserved girls in identified areas, community centers, and afterschool programs.
  • Recruit, train, manage and support volunteers to assist with program delivery at assigned sites.
  • Work cross-functionally and collaboratively in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Provide information and assistance to management in identifying ways to continuously improve work processes of the department.
  • Work with Outreach Manager and/or the Fund Development Department to execute the process for maintaining records and reporting for the grants pertaining to Great Plains Outreach programming.
  • Follow all Spirit of Nebraska procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures Manual (SOPM) and Girl Scouts USA procedures (GSUSA).
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Belief in the values and mission of Girl Scouts and willingness to join the Girl Scout movement.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in education, social work, or related field.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a diverse team environment.
  • Experience in volunteer management and customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering programs for children and adults.
  • Valid Driver's license; clean driving record and insurable in accordance with Girl Scouts insurance policy.
