The Outside Income Tax Audit Representative at TaxAudit is a part-time remote role focused on providing audit representation for clients facing federal and state tax audits. The representative will manage assigned audits from start to finish, ensuring a positive experience for members while upholding the company's values of care, integrity, and professionalism. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, with support provided for research and travel expenses as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage federal and state tax audit defense case load.
• Assist taxpayers in gathering necessary documents and information.
• Utilize electronic case management or tracking systems.
• Follow established procedures for handling confidential member information.
• Organize documents and prepare response packages for submission to tax authorities.
• Draft correspondence and discuss cases with IRS and state agents.

Requirements

• EA, CPA, or Attorney certification required.
• 3-6 years of experience representing taxpayers before the IRS and local tax agencies.
• Strong competence in tax law knowledge.
• Working knowledge of IRS organization and audit processes.
• Ability to work independently and communicate tax-related issues clearly.
• Intermediate to strong computer skills.
