About the position

As an Outside Industrial Sales Representative for Horizon Distribution, Inc., you will play a crucial role in servicing and expanding our market presence across Southern Idaho. This position requires a proactive approach to meet and exceed budgeted sales and gross margin goals on a monthly and year-to-date basis. You will be responsible for preparing strategic sales plans targeting key accounts and prospects, ensuring that customer expectations are not only met but exceeded. A deep understanding of Horizon Distribution's service capabilities and product offerings is essential to effectively communicate and provide solutions to our clients. Your daily responsibilities will include maintaining constant communication with the Sales Manager, providing suggestions for process improvements, and identifying new opportunities for growth. You will also collaborate with manufacturer sales representatives to enhance relationships with both new and existing accounts. A regular call schedule will be necessary to penetrate existing accounts, where you will seek out new solutions and develop multiple contacts within those accounts. As a value-added salesperson, you will focus on saving customers time and money, documenting cost savings, and reporting these to clients. Additionally, you will be expected to document your sales calls using our CRM system and assist with contracts, bids, and large quote opportunities as needed. A positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential traits for success in this role. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel overnight when necessary, as you will be covering a broad territory from the western Idaho border through the I-84 corridor to Twin Falls.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed budgeted sales and gross margin goals monthly and YTD.
  • Prepare sales plans for key accounts and targeted prospects.
  • Meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Understand Horizon Distribution's service abilities and product offering.
  • Maintain constant and clear communication with Sales Manager on suggestions for process improvement and new opportunities.
  • Make joint sales calls with manufacturer sales reps to grow new and existing accounts.
  • Maintain a regular call schedule.
  • Plan your sales calls and reasons for the sales call.
  • Penetrate existing accounts by constantly looking for new solutions.
  • Develop multiple contacts in your accounts.
  • Strive to be a value-added sales person by always looking for ways to save the customer both time and money.
  • Document cost savings and report to the customer.
  • Document calls using CRM system.
  • Be willing to help elsewhere in the company, when necessary.
  • Assist on contracts, bids and other large quote opportunities.
  • Display consistent 'can-do,' positive attitude.
  • Strive to constantly improve.

Requirements

  • Must have two or more years as an outside sales representative with a demonstrated track record of retention and above average growth.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, personable, well organized, and work well independently and with other team members.
  • Proficient working with technology including, but not limited to, MS Office, email, CRM and researching online.
  • Must have ability to develop prospects into key customers.
  • Some college education or equivalent.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel overnight as needed.
