About the position

The Outside Lumber Sales Representative position is a dynamic role focused on generating and securing sales of building materials with both new and existing customers. This position is designed for individuals who are motivated by performance-based compensation, offering uncapped earning potential. The representative will be responsible for promoting the company's products, facilitating customer product selection, and ensuring that existing accounts receive the necessary custom products and information to meet their needs. In this role, the representative will prepare and communicate price quotations, sale terms, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers and contractors. They will also estimate materials based on blueprints provided by clients, resolve any customer complaints or issues, and assist in the collection of accounts receivable. Participation in training sessions is required to stay updated on product knowledge and sales techniques. The role may also involve other assigned duties as necessary to support the sales team and company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and secure new accounts.
  • Facilitate customer product selection.
  • Service existing accounts with necessary custom products, time, and information.
  • Assist with product selection best suited to customer needs.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and communicate price quotations, sale terms, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers/contractors.
  • Estimate materials from blueprints provided by customers/contractors.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Assist in accounts receivable collection.
  • Attend and participate in training, when required.
  • Perform other assigned duties, responsibilities, or tasks.

Requirements

  • Have a working knowledge of lumber.
  • Complete and pass a drug, alcohol, background screen and Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Speak, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagrams, and schedule-form instructions.
  • Calculate figures and amounts (i.e., discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Learn and utilize Envisioneer™ software.
