About the position

The Outside Operations Supervisor at Essex County Club plays a crucial role in managing outdoor operations related to daily golf play, ensuring a positive experience for all golfers. This position involves supervising staff, coordinating play, and maintaining high service standards. The supervisor will work closely with the Director of Golf and other department managers, focusing on staff training, customer service, course operations, caddie management, and effective communication within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional service environment, striving to exceed the expectation of our members
  • Create a positive first impression for members and guests arriving to play or practice
  • Prioritize visibility around the facility while maintaining an outgoing and personable attitude
  • Lead outside operations staff training and standards
  • Oversee all aspects of the caddie program including recruiting, training, assigning, and receiving/giving member feedback
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Golf, golf department managers, professional staff along with Grounds and House contacts
  • Act as a starter for the first tee at a no tee time club, responsible for daily golf course charges
  • Maintain organized bag room / club repair room as well as manage annual member storage
  • Oversee the golf cart fleet which consists of 31 carts plus three utility vehicles
  • Excel at learning member preferences through creating relationships
  • Liaison for fundraising on behalf of the Ouimet Scholarship fund
  • Ambassador for Essex County Club and the professional staff
  • If a PGA member, maintain a regular schedule playing with members; compete in NEPGA events
  • Continue personal and professional growth throughout the year
  • If a PGA member, maintain good standing with the PGA of America, completing necessary PDR requirements

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience overseeing or heavily involved in outside operations, preferably at a high-end private club
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Preferably a PGA Class A membership, or an Associate near election
  • Experience using MembersFirst and/or ClubUp is ideal
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Well-groomed and neatly presented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
