About the position

New York Eye, a leader in quality eyewear, is seeking a self-motivated and proactive Outside Optical Sales Representative to service optometrists, ophthalmologists, and opticians in Massachusetts and New England. This is a field-based position that requires approximately 35% overnight travel. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cold calling and new account acquisition, as well as a strong ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies tailored to the assigned territory. The goal is to meet or exceed sales targets while building and maintaining relationships with potential customers. In this role, you will be responsible for daily face-to-face appointments with existing customers, providing them with relevant product offerings that fit their needs. You will also be tasked with increasing territory revenues through the development of existing accounts and presenting new and current eyewear lines at all appointments. Effective management of board space, monitoring brand positioning, and supporting the sell-through of products are essential components of this position. Additionally, you will need to develop weekly and monthly call cycle plans, analyze sales data and reports to identify business opportunities, and actively close sales. Regular submission of weekly recap reports to management is also required, along with successful completion of comprehensive territory training.

Responsibilities

  • Requires extensive experience in cold calling and new account acquisition

Requirements

  • Must currently reside in the territory
  • Strong, verifiable outside sales experience, minimum 2 years preferred
  • Motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
  • Proven territory management and call cycle skills
  • Demonstrated track record in developing business to business relationships
  • Must own a reliable car
  • Ability to lift sample bags up to 45 pounds
