About the position

The Outside Parts Expert (OPE) at Transwest is a pivotal sales role focused on generating and increasing retail parts sales within a defined Area of Responsibility (AOR). This position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where the OPE is expected to make 9 to 12 professional, in-person visits to customers each business day. The OPE must also dedicate 20% of their weekly schedule to exploring new opportunities, ensuring a continuous growth in sales and customer base. The role demands a strong understanding of the various parts products offered by Transwest, necessitating ongoing education about the industry, the company, and its offerings. The OPE is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales and gross profit objectives set by the director, while also maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance at all times. In addition to sales responsibilities, the OPE must manage company resources effectively and ensure that all customer interactions are prompt, courteous, and accurate. The position requires a commitment to personal and professional development, as the OPE must stay informed about the latest industry trends and product knowledge. The OPE is also expected to adhere to a structured work schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet departmental demands. The role may involve travel and entertainment expenses, which must be managed within the budget set by the company. The work environment is dynamic and may require physical stamina, as the OPE will engage in activities that involve a full range of body motion, including lifting and handling parts. The position may also require standing, balancing, and bending for extended periods, with the potential to lift items weighing up to 80 pounds. Overall, the OPE plays a crucial role in driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction at Transwest, contributing to the company's growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and increase retail parts sales to customers within the defined Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Make 9 to 12 professional, in-person customer visits each business day.
  • Dedicate 20% of weekly schedule to exploring new opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales and gross profit objectives set by the director.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service to customers.
  • Acquire knowledge about various facets of the business and products offered by Transwest.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Complete tasks within the budgeted expenses for travel and entertainment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director or parts manager.

Requirements

  • Strong sales skills and experience in a similar role.
