About the position

The Outside Parts Salesperson is responsible for managing customer relationships and driving sales of parts and services at the dealership. This role requires a thorough understanding of parts identification, pricing, and promotional programs, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams. The salesperson will visit assigned customers, prospect for new clients, and ensure that all parts orders are processed efficiently while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Visit assigned customers to promote parts sales.
  • Prospect for new customers to expand the client base.
  • Communicate parts orders to inside salespeople or handle orders onsite using a mobile device or laptop.
  • Review special deal orders with the parts manager for approval.
  • Obtain parts manager's approval for any special pricing requests.
  • Advise inside salespeople on delivery instructions for parts orders.
  • Follow up on parts orders to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate service sales with service salespeople.
  • Submit completed call reports, time sheets, and expense reports.
  • Update customer records with any changes in information.
  • Add new customers to appropriate mailing lists.
  • Attend training seminars as required.
  • Act as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
  • Maintain a professional appearance while fulfilling job duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three months of related experience or training preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience or training is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel) is highly recommended.
  • Ability to be trained on business software products essential for the position.
  • Strong language skills to read, write, and present information effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in parts sales or automotive industry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with parts reference materials and pricing information.
