About the position

The Outside Parts Salesperson at Bruckner Truck & Equipment is responsible for engaging with prospective customers to promote and sell heavy-duty truck parts. This role involves delivering parts as needed, managing customer inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and service. The position requires a strong understanding of parts inventory and the ability to maintain accurate records while fostering relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Answer customer's phone calls and fill orders from inventory.
  • Access parts information from the computer to check availability, pricing, and substitutions.
  • Familiarize with quality improvement bulletins, service bulletins, and vehicle updates to advise customers on parts replacement needs.
  • Stock necessary parts on and off outside vans and pickups.
  • Check available credit on customer's account before delivery of any parts.
  • Collect payment from customers that are past due.
  • Accept payment from cash or C.O.D. customers at the time of delivery.
  • Examine returned parts or cores for any defects before issuing credit.
  • Issue credit for cores or returned parts immediately after examining for defects.
  • Research customer's account for proper invoice to issue credit for returned parts or cores.
  • Research for potential new customers for parts sales.
  • Fill out proper paperwork for any part covered under warranty and return it to the warranty clerk.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and fully maintained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with heavy-duty truck parts and automotive parts.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Ability to interact successfully with customers and co-workers.
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to keep good records and fill out call sheets at the end of each week.
  • Must have the mental flexibility to handle stressful situations.
