About the position
As an Outside Plant Construction Technician I at TDS Telecom in Delevan, WI, you will be responsible for performing general labor associated with the construction of PON/fiber optic networks. This role involves assisting with the installation of communications facilities, both buried and aerial, while adhering to state and local regulations to ensure safety. The position offers training opportunities, including obtaining a Class A CDL and exposure to various construction equipment and fiber optic training.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of communications facilities (buried and aerial) for fiber optic networks.
- Perform general labor tasks associated with outside plant construction.
- Adhere to state and local regulations while performing work safely.
- Participate in training programs for safety, pole climbing, and bucket truck operation.
- Gain exposure to construction equipment such as Directional Drill Rigs, Mini Excavators, Trenchers, and Locators.
- Receive training in fiber optic techniques including Fusion Splicing and Fault Detection.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to participate in training programs for safety and equipment operation.
- Basic understanding of construction practices and safety regulations.
