About the position

As an Outside Plant Construction Technician I in Billings, MT, you will engage in general labor associated with the construction of PON/fiber optic networks. This role involves assisting in the installation of communications facilities, both buried and aerial, while adhering to safety regulations. The position offers training opportunities, including obtaining a Class A CDL and exposure to various construction equipment and fiber optic training.

Responsibilities

• Perform general construction labor in various weather conditions while utilizing safety fundamentals.
• Assist with and perform the transportation of required construction equipment to and from the worksite.
• Assist with and perform the placement of new aerial and buried fiber according to maps, staking sheets, and locate markings.
• Use hand tools, cable locators, and test equipment.
• Install and/or set enclosures (buried and aerial), vaults, pedestals, and handholes.
• Climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed; use bucket truck when required.
• Mark/label fiber optic and/or copper facilities.
• Use dispatching application and associated tools.
• Assist with fiber splicing and repairs.
• Assist with outside plant preventative maintenance.
• Perform landscape restoration after project completion.
• Service, clean, maintain, and repair equipment.
• Complete all related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance to field services technicians, as needed.

Requirements

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, technical certification, or current military service.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL; a current CDL is preferred at hire.
