About the position

We are currently recruiting for an Outside Plant Systems & Field Engineer (Westerm USA) to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Global Services, the Outside Plant Systems and Field Engineer will possess a working knowledge of HFC Broadband amplifiers, nodes and related technologies and fully versed in RF and Optical Networking principles. The position requires support in ALL areas of customer service delivery of the ATX Access Networking portfolio primarily focussed OSP plant, with Optical portfolios a desirable. From the initial engineering test and validation in ATX Labs, through support of sales in network design, to the support and delivery of the customer demos, lab and field trials, customer product training and the field support of live product. The successful candidate will be a proficient self-starter, with exemplary customer facing acumen, technical skills and industry knowledge, excellent communication skills with history or experience as a customer or partner facing Systems and Field Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ATX Engineering on NPI process with product test and validation as we expand ATX Access Networking portfolio.
  • Assist/support writing customer user guides, manual product system setup procedures and field reference guides.
  • Working knowledge of system engineering and design, network build support, calculating product performance from a standard product specification to include specific customer requirements.
  • Acting as a 'go to' and a sales enabler to the Sales organization and Professional Services.
  • Assisting in presale presentations and demos, understanding clients fit.
  • Support customer product qualifications, by way of collecting/reviewing customer test plans, data collection and documenting pre-testing results for customers.
  • Support and resolve test plan fails, build and utilize testing environment per customer requirements.
  • Provide internal and client facing product and technology training.
  • Provide timely resolution to customer service inquiries, which may include on-site support.
  • Track, route, redirect and/or escalate product issues for timely resolution.
  • See all inquiries through to completion and document client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Required minimum 10+ years of relevant experience working with CATV Networking technologies or preferred undergraduate or graduate degree (BS/BA minimum) in Electrical, Computer, or Networking Engineering; Computer Programming; Information Technology; Management Information Systems; Computer Science; Mathematics.
  • Required to have excellent customer facing acumen, ability to work in front of the customer which may be under pressure.
  • Required to have working knowledge of CATV Networking Technologies.
  • Preferred working knowledge of the former Scientific Atlanta/Cisco HFC Broadband amplifiers, nodes and related technologies.
  • Required understanding of RF and Optical principles as it relates to CATV, including a solid understanding of performance and characteristics requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and identify solutions outside of the obvious.
  • Effective technical presentation, written and verbal skills.
  • Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers BDS, BTS, BTCS, DVEP certification or equivalent knowledge.
