About The Position

The Outside Plant Technician role involves using heavy machinery and hand tools to install, test, and repair outside plant cable facilities, ensuring customers remain connected to the latest technology and services. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, effective communication, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.

Requirements

• Experience with heavy machinery and hand tools.
• Ability to lift and move up to 80 lbs.
• Willingness to work in confined spaces or at heights up to 28 feet.
• Interest and readiness to learn new technology.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Work with heavy duty power equipment and hand tools in the construction and repair of outside plant cable facilities, conduit, and pole lines.
• Load required tools and materials into the assigned Company vehicle and drive to work locations.
• Obtain a Class A Driver's License within the first six months of hire.
• Receive and follow verbal and/or written work orders and instructions from supervisors.
• Review and analyze complex schematic drawings to determine work methods and sequence of tasks.
• Perform various types of construction operations requiring heavy physical labor and lifting.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of assigned Company vehicles and work locations.
• Communicate and coordinate with other work groups to perform tests on work-in-progress or completed work.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned company tools, equipment, and motor vehicles.
• Respond to customer inquiries about products and work operations during field contacts.
