About the position

The Outside Pro Sales Representative (OPR) at Behr Paint Company is a pivotal role responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing productive relationships with both new and existing accounts for Behr/Kilz products and services within the professional channel. This position focuses on a defined target segment and works cross-functionally with the broader team to develop and implement specific strategies aimed at achieving customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and profitability. The OPR is expected to work safely, as this is a core aspect of the company culture and a condition of employment. In this role, the OPR will support the deployment and application of Behr's annual Strategic Deployment Plan (SDP) under the guidance of corporate and the regional VP. The representative will develop strategic market plans for key account customers, target customers, and high-potential customers, establishing clear goals and targets. Achieving defined sales goals, metrics, and objectives is a critical responsibility. The OPR will employ a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand and deliver valuable business solutions tailored to specific segments, including Painter and Decorator Contractors, Commercial Paint Contractors, Residential Repaint, and HOA/Multi-family Contractors. Daily responsibilities include creating productive call plans to generate sales on existing accounts and qualified leads, logging quality information into Salesforce (CRM), and building brand awareness through marketing and training initiatives. A thorough understanding of product assortment and inventory levels is essential to support customer ordering demands, and the OPR will also expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints. This role requires a proactive approach to customer engagement and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and cultivate relationships with new and existing accounts for Behr/Kilz products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous sales, retail, or customer service experience, preferably in commercial coatings.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction trade and/or architectural coatings.
  • Ability to speak a second language prevalent in certain geographic regions.
