About the position

The Outside Sales Account Manager for Government Customers is responsible for managing an established portfolio of Federal/SLED customers, focusing on driving Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) sales. This in-person field sales role requires consistent day travel within the designated territory, with occasional overnight travel. The position aims to profitably grow sales by prospecting new accounts, retaining existing customers, and increasing opportunities with current clients. The role includes a competitive base salary and a monthly sales incentive plan, along with necessary tools such as a laptop/tablet and cell phone.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales volume with an existing group of customers and prospect new accounts to expand the customer base.
  • Develop and implement plans to expand business presence in the assigned area.
  • Share market and competitor information with all applicable channels.
  • Develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers at all levels of the organization.
  • Attend monthly business meetings for company-sponsored associations.
  • Participate in local trade shows and similar regional/national activities as required.
  • Assist in training or mentoring of associates.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of business-to-business (B2B) field sales experience.
  • Direct sales experience to HD Supply facility customers and industry product line.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Experience with a large volume of product lines.
  • Strong organizational skills and tech-savvy.
  • Knowledge of facilities products such as hardware, electrical, lighting, plumbing, janitorial, and HVAC product lines.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Salesforce or similar CRM.
  • Experience with consultative selling/solution selling.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a remote position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the government sector sales.
  • Familiarity with MRO product lines.
  • Strong networking skills within the industry.
