About the position

As an Outside Sales Account Manager for Multi-Family Housing Accounts at HD Supply, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and maintaining relationships with an established portfolio of multi-family housing customers, specifically apartment communities. Your primary responsibility will be to sell maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies, along with other products, to these customers. This position not only offers a competitive base salary but also includes a sales incentive bonus, a laptop/tablet, a cell phone, and coverage for monthly expenses. You will be tasked with managing sales in the Louisville, KY - Eastern Territories, where you will develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision-makers and influencers at all levels of the organizations you serve. Your role will involve prospecting new accounts, retaining existing accounts, and increasing opportunities with current customers. You will also be responsible for implementing plans to expand the business presence in your assigned area, sharing market and competitor information with relevant channels within the organization, and establishing working partnerships. In addition to your sales responsibilities, you will attend monthly business meetings for all company-sponsored associations and participate in local trade shows, as well as regional and national activities when required. This position requires a high level of independence, as you will be expected to manage your own schedule and work with minimal supervision, receiving guidance only on unusual or complex issues. The work environment is primarily comfortable and indoor, with most of your time spent sitting in a comfortable position, although there may be occasional light lifting or moving of articles. Overnight travel is expected to be less than 10% of the time, allowing for a balanced work-life dynamic.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers at all levels of an organization.
  • Manage sales volume with an existing group of customers and successfully prospect to expand the customer base.
  • Develop and implement plans to expand business presence in the assigned area.
  • Share market and competitor information with applicable channels within the organization.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of business to business (B2B) field sales experience.
  • Direct sales experience to multi-family communities and facilities maintenance customers.
  • Experience with large volume of product lines.
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of handheld technology.
  • Independent and accountable self-starter.
  • Knowledge of facilities products such as hardware, electrical, lighting, and more.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Salesforce, or similar CRM.
  • Experience with consultative selling/solution selling preferred.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a remote position.
