About the position

The Plumbing Outside Sales Account Manager at Dakota Supply Group (DSG) is responsible for promoting and selling plumbing products and services to contractors and industrial accounts in the Greater Detroit area. This full-time position involves building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction, and collaborating with inside sales associates to drive territory growth. The role requires travel to customer locations and a focus on delivering exceptional service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Promote DSG products and services to contractors and industrial accounts.
  • Establish, manage, and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Provide stellar customer service, including responding to customer inquiries and needs.
  • Work with Inside Sales Associates to improve customer satisfaction and territory growth.
  • Seek and develop new customer opportunities and accounts.
  • Introduce, promote, and demonstrate new products and marketing programs.
  • Correspond with Branch Manager and Purchasing Agents regarding product demand changes.
  • Facilitate the customer ordering process, including processing orders and handling inquiries.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; postsecondary degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Product and technical knowledge from 2+ years of college or technical school or 3-5 years of field experience in plumbing applications.
  • Strong sales skills with a proven track record in territory development.
  • 3-5 years of sales experience.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through abilities.
  • General understanding of plumbing software and programs.
  • Familiarity with DSG Web Commerce and ability to instruct customers on its use.
  • Excellent time management skills.
