About the position

The Outside Sales Engineer at Rust Automation & Controls is responsible for managing accounts in the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Clarita areas. This role involves selling products and services from various manufacturing partners, focusing on customer engagement across commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors. The position requires a proactive approach to sales, including prospecting new accounts and enhancing relationships with existing clients to drive sales growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Learn all products offered by Rust Automation & Controls.
  • Prospect and promote products, solutions, and services to commercial, industrial, and municipal accounts within the territory.
  • Grow territory sales and gross margin by increasing penetration of existing accounts and developing new accounts.
  • Review specifications, application requirements, and other documents, working closely with Inside Sales for preparation of resulting quotations.
  • Conduct joint sales calls with management and manufacturing partners.
  • Perform site walkdowns in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Maintain a robust CRM database with accounts, account contacts, active opportunities, and projects.
  • Articulate solutions and work with a team to execute.

Requirements

  • Technical Degree or 2-3 years of Industrial Sales experience or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to listen to customer needs.
  • Ability to effectively manage customer expectations and anticipate potential opportunities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set aggressive goals and execute plans to exceed them.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to accomplish assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently out of a home office.
