About the position

The Outside Sales Account Manager at Airgas is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. This role focuses on both existing and new customers, requiring the individual to meet corporate and regional sales objectives while maintaining strong customer relationships. The position involves significant local and regional travel, with a primary focus on consultative selling and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales process and drive profitable sales growth within an assigned territory.
  • Meet and exceed corporate and regional objectives for sales growth and customer retention.
  • Develop and execute sales plans to service existing accounts and establish new accounts.
  • Qualify and pursue sales leads while cultivating customer relationships.
  • Prepare sales proposals, including pricing and credit terms, based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor industry insights and competition to gather relevant marketplace intelligence.
  • Partner with internal resources to achieve growth objectives.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes and opportunities.
  • Submit required sales reports through SAP and manage Accounts Receivable balances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, business, or related field required; or up to 4 years of additional related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of outside B2B sales experience with a proven track record in solution-selling.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, and industrial gas/welding supply sales is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Applications and/or MS Office; SAP experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable transportation and a current driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consultative sales approach providing multiple layers of value to customers.
  • Knowledge of macro and microeconomic trends affecting the industry.
