About the position

The Outside Sales Associate Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within a designated territory of small to midsize accounts. This role focuses on maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships while also acquiring new accounts. The position requires regular travel to meet customers, prepare sales proposals, and monitor market competition, all while adhering to Airgas's sales directives and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Generate sales growth in a territory of small to midsize accounts.
  • Maintain and grow wallet share within existing accounts.
  • Increase customer base by targeting key accounts and partnering with retail stores.
  • Service existing accounts and establish new accounts following Airgas's sales directives.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships through regular travel and communication.
  • Prepare sales proposals including pricing, credit terms, and delivery estimates.
  • Monitor competition by gathering relevant marketplace information.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints by investigating issues and recommending solutions.
  • Develop skills in sales, customer service, and product application.
  • Adjust sales presentations based on customer needs and product types.
  • Maintain and submit required sales reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of prior outside sales/service experience.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, and email.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in varied situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industrial gas or welding supply sales.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices.
