About the position

The Outside Sales Associate Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within a designated territory of small to midsize accounts. This role focuses on maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships while also acquiring new accounts. The position requires travel to meet customers, prepare sales proposals, and monitor market competition, all while adhering to Airgas's sales directives and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Generate sales growth in a territory made up of small to midsize accounts.
  • Maintain and grow wallet share within existing accounts.
  • Increase customer base by calling on key accounts and partnering with retail stores.
  • Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts.
  • Develop and strengthen customer relationships through travel and phone contact.
  • Prepare sales proposals by quoting pricing, credit terms, and estimated delivery dates.
  • Monitor competition by gathering relevant marketplace information.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints by investigating problems and developing solutions.
  • Maintain and submit sales reports as required by the District Manager.
  • Perform counter sales in a back-up capacity as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Related Field preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of prior outside sales/service experience.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, and email.
  • Ability to acclimate to PC-based order entry systems and wireless scanning devices.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in varied situations.
  • Reliable transportation and current driver's license with minimum liability insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industrial gas or welding supply sales.
  • Knowledge of welding/gas product applications.
