About the position

Celtic Building Supplies, a well-established business servicing construction companies, architects, contractors, engineers, and homebuilders in the tri-state area for over 20 years, is seeking to hire an Outside Sales Representative (OSR). This role is pivotal in increasing sales and building strong relationships with customers to expand the business's footprint and drive sales growth month over month. The OSR will be responsible for generating business from prospective customers, making cold calls, and sourcing customers through job site visits throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Additionally, the OSR will work closely with the Inside Sales Representative to service existing customers, ensuring a seamless experience for all clients. The position is full-time and salaried, offering a starting salary range of $45,000 to $65,000 per year, along with uncapped commission and ongoing bonuses. The OSR will spend approximately 85%-90% of their time focused on generating new business and 10%-15% on servicing existing accounts. This includes networking and developing relationships with key industry players such as developers, project managers, and purchasers, as well as participating in meetings, trade shows, and other industry events as needed. Continuous product knowledge is essential to achieve all sales goals and metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Generate business from prospective customers through cold calls and job site visits.
  • Service existing customers in collaboration with the Inside Sales Rep.
  • Network and develop relationships with developers, project managers, and industry decision makers.
  • Actively participate in meetings, trade shows, and other industry events.
  • Obtain continuous product knowledge to effectively sell building materials.
  • Achieve all sales goals and metrics set by the company.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of aggressive inside or outside sales experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Building Materials/Building Supply preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are a must.
  • Basic knowledge of CRM software and organizational tools to manage a book of business.
  • High-level technical skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, reliable, and trustworthy with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of contractors, vendors, and competitors in the tri-state area.
  • Experience handling high volume phone and email communication.
