About the position

B&B Roadway and Security Solutions, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is seeking an Outside Sales / Business Development Specialist to join our team in McKinney, TX. This role is pivotal in creating long-term value by building mutually beneficial relationships within the Roadway market. The Business Development Specialist will engage with key decision-makers, including contractors, subcontractors, and Department of Transportation officials, through various channels such as conferences, tradeshows, and social media. The goal is to enhance brand awareness, expand market reach, and achieve revenue targets. The position requires collaboration with the sales team to maintain and develop key account and partner relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a business plan, outlining annual goals, and evaluating project offerings. This role demands a thorough understanding of the company's offerings and technical preferences, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in team and client meetings. The Business Development Specialist will also be expected to conduct research, share industry knowledge, and participate in new product development and continuous process improvement initiatives. To excel in this role, the candidate must possess excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, along with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset. Proficiency in Office Suite products and CRM software is essential, as is the ability to make informed decisions based on data regarding products, pricing, delivery, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Create long-term value through building mutually beneficial relationships in the Roadway market.
  • Engage decision-makers in the industry through various channels to develop brand awareness and market expansion.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and maintain key account and partner relationships.
  • Develop a business plan and outline annual goals.
  • Assist in the evaluation and design of project offerings, gaining a thorough understanding of company offerings and technical preferences.
  • Participate in team and client meetings, effectively communicating relevant project information.
  • Conduct research and build knowledge in the industry, sharing insights with others.
  • Log interactions, sales calls, and meetings using CRM and calendar tools.
  • Participate in ad hoc process improvement projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience (minimum 5 years).
  • 2+ years of successful outside roadway sales experience or other industry-related successful outside sales experience.
  • Proven results in achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience selling in a matrix organization and navigating through executive levels of large multi-level customers.
  • Ability to develop a business plan and outline goals annually.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and reliable.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and CRM software.
