Kinsley Power Systems is seeking an Outside Sales Engineer to join their dynamic team in Stamford, CT. The primary objective of the Sales Engineer is to drive sales of industrial power generation applications, which include a variety of related equipment such as transfer switches, switchgear, load banks, and fuel tanks. This role involves engaging with a diverse range of clients, including end-users, engineers, electrical contractors, municipalities, government entities, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in expanding the company's market presence and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective sales strategies and relationship management. The company is a KOHLER generator distributor, headquartered in East Granby, CT, with multiple locations throughout the northeast. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for pursuing new project opportunities and successfully closing sales. This includes influencing the development of quotes, selecting appropriate equipment and support services, and ensuring that customer support is maintained throughout the warranty period of the equipment. The role requires meeting or exceeding quarterly sales quotas by targeting specific customer types within identified verticals and identifying opportunities with existing accounts in the assigned territory. The Sales Engineer will negotiate and close deals that generate significant revenue and margins, while also understanding the full suite of products and services offered by the company. This position involves making joint sales calls with technical and engineering sales resources to provide in-depth technical knowledge of the solutions available. Building long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers at the electrical contractor, engineer, and building owner levels is essential. The Sales Engineer will also maintain customer and project data in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, tracking active projects for reporting and documenting business development activities and any obstacles encountered.

Responsibilities

  • Pursue new project opportunities and close sales.
  • Influence quote development, appropriate equipment, and support services, ensuring customer support exists through the equipment warranty period.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly sales quotas by driving sales with targeted customer types in identified verticals.
  • Identify opportunities with existing accounts in assigned territory.
  • Negotiate and close deals that derive significant revenue and associated margins.
  • Understand the company's complete suite of products and services and identify cross-selling opportunities to other business verticals.
  • Make joint sales calls with appropriate technical/engineering sales resources, providing in-depth technical knowledge of solutions offered.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customer decision makers and influencers at the electrical contractor, engineer, and building owner levels.
  • Maintain customer/project data in CRM software, tracking active projects for reporting and documenting business development activity and obstacles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Proven passion and success in sales required.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong customer service focus with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven competency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight travel as required.
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid state driver's license.
