About the position

Kinsley Power Systems is seeking an Outside Sales Engineer to join their dynamic team in New York City. The primary objective of the Sales Engineer is to effectively sell industrial power generation applications, which include a range of related equipment such as transfer switches, switchgear, load banks, and fuel tanks. This role involves engaging with a diverse clientele, including end-users, engineers, electrical contractors, municipalities, government applications, and OEMs. Kinsley Power Systems, a family-owned business with over 55 years of experience, prides itself on being an industry leader in generator service, sales, and rentals. As a KOHLER generator distributor, the company is headquartered in East Granby, CT, and has multiple locations throughout the northeast. The company culture emphasizes exceeding customer expectations in a rewarding and enjoyable environment. In this role, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for pursuing new project opportunities and successfully closing sales. This includes influencing the development of quotes, determining appropriate equipment and support services, and ensuring that customer support is maintained throughout the equipment warranty period. The Sales Engineer will be expected to meet or exceed quarterly sales quotas by driving sales with targeted customer types in identified verticals, while also identifying opportunities with existing accounts within their assigned territory. Negotiating and closing deals that generate significant revenue and associated margins is a key responsibility. The Sales Engineer must have a comprehensive understanding of the company's complete suite of products and services, identifying and facilitating cross-selling opportunities to other business verticals, including residential equipment, rental agreements, prime power equipment, and service contract sales. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will collaborate with technical and engineering sales resources to provide in-depth technical knowledge of the solutions offered by Kinsley Power Systems. Building and maintaining long-term relationships with customer decision-makers and influencers at the electrical contractor, engineer, and building owner levels is crucial. The role also requires maintaining customer and project data in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, tracking active projects for weekly and monthly reporting, and documenting business development activities and obstacles to success.
