About the position

Solar Atmospheres of Michigan is seeking an Outside Sales Manager who enjoys traveling and finding right-fit customers needing a trusted heat treating partner. This position involves significant travel from Monday to Friday, with the possibility of being away for a week at a time. The company provides a company car, credit card, and phone to facilitate this travel. As an Outside Sales Manager, you will be on the road, employing a customer-first approach to visit, call, and follow up with prospects who can benefit from a partnership with Solar Atmospheres. Unlike some sales positions, our leads and opportunities are endless. 95% of our business supports the aerospace, automotive, airline, and medical industries, which means there are numerous direct and indirect companies that we can connect with that manufacture parts within these sectors, all of which require heat treatment for durability purposes. In this role, you can expect to visit multiple prospects and customers each day to build relationships and pitch our services. You will also be responsible for calling and following up with a high volume of prospects and inbound leads. Planning weekly travel schedules and coordinating flights and hotels will be part of your responsibilities. You will utilize HubSpot to maintain accurate records of prospecting and customer activities and provide daily reports to the Director of Sales on your activities. Additionally, networking and participating at trade shows and conferences throughout your territory will be essential to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Visit multiple prospects and customers a day to build relationships and pitch our services.
  • Call and follow up with a high volume of prospects and inbound leads.
  • Plan weekly travel schedules and coordinate flights/hotels needed.
  • Utilize HubSpot to maintain accurate records of prospecting/customer activities.
  • Provide daily reports to the Director of Sales on activities.
  • Network and participate at trade shows/conferences throughout the territory.

Requirements

  • Heat treating or Metal Service Center sales background with connections to and relationships with machine and metal fabrication shops throughout MI and WI, required.
  • Comfortability with extensive travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems required.
  • General knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment of multiple types of materials preferred.
  • Results-oriented, motivated, and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and complete tasks with little supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, required.
