About the position

The Outside Sales Manager at Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc. is responsible for driving revenue and profit growth by managing a salesforce focused on account development and retention. This role involves strategic planning, sales forecasting, and building strong relationships with major accounts while expanding the company's market presence in Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds sales goals established for the Branch
  • Develops and executes a sales program on a segment specific basis
  • Establishes sales and profit goals for the Branch including margin targets
  • Forecasts sales and profit and is held accountable for its deliverance
  • Drives sales performance
  • Leads, motivates and develops sales staff
  • Prepares strategically defined sales plans and programs
  • Makes sales calls on customers to help secure business
  • Trains, coaches and mentors sales personnel
  • Guides pricing, customer service, inventory management and plant scheduling
  • Builds credibility and trust with current and potential customers
  • Provides excellent customer service
  • Drives a culture that responds quickly to resolve customer issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1-3 years sales experience
  • Some management experience preferred but not required
  • Professional, leadership-oriented image
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Assertive, competitive and goal oriented
  • Flexible and solutions-oriented
  • High degree of business ethics
