About the position

The Outside Sales Manager is responsible for directing, leading, and supervising the Outside Sales function at thyssenkrupp Materials NA, Inc. This role involves developing and executing a sales and marketing plan that maximizes corporate return on investment while ensuring customer satisfaction through quality products and services. The manager will analyze market conditions, customer needs, and competitor strategies to drive sales performance in the Copper and Brass Division, which serves various industries across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, lead, and supervise the Outside Sales function.
  • Develop and implement a sales/marketing plan to maximize corporate ROI.
  • Determine customer-buying motivators and develop competitor profiles.
  • Conduct SWOT analyses of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA against customer motivations and competitors.
  • Establish benchmarks for ThyssenKrupp Materials NA participation.
  • Develop a marketing plan for the region and cascade it down the sales organization.
  • Profile transaction level pricing and adjust pricing as required to meet objectives.
  • Determine advertising and marketing aid requirements.
  • Develop customer profiles in collaboration with sales personnel.
  • Capture competitive pricing data and profile ThyssenKrupp Materials NA pricing practices.
  • Monitor selling expense budgets and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
  • Make sales calls on selected accounts with each salesperson.
  • Provide training for outside sales personnel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience in TQM and ISO9000.
  • Acquainted with finance for non-financial managers, strategic selling, and time management.
  • Safety mindset.

  • Completion or working towards MGA Metallurgy training.
  • Leadership and team building experience.
  • Training in strategic planning and motivation.
  • 1-2 years of operations experience.
  • 1-2 years of inside sales experience.
