About the position

The Reliability Services Business Development Manager is an outside sales role focused on acquiring new, profitable business while maintaining strong partnerships with existing customers. This position is crucial for increasing Wilcox + Flegel's market position and achieving financial growth. The manager will collaborate with the General Manager, Reliability Services Team, marketing staff, and internal Sales Team to drive profitable sales growth in Reliability Services. The role covers a diverse range of Commercial and Industrial prospects, including sectors such as Industrial Manufacturing, Construction, Power Generation, Mining, Machining, Logging, Trucking Fleets, and Agriculture. In this fast-paced environment, the primary focus is on acquiring new customers and developing sales volume and profitability through a technical sales approach. The manager is expected to consistently embody the company's Core Values and will benefit from a Base + Commission structure, including commission protection for up to one year. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and various other incentives designed to support employee well-being and professional growth. The role requires a proactive approach to business development, including generating leads, qualifying prospects, and advancing a robust sales pipeline. The manager will organize and lead sales presentations, cultivate relationships with key decision-makers, and manage accounts effectively. This position also involves collaboration with internal teams to share information and demonstrate the value of products and services, ensuring a seamless transition of projects to the Reliability Services Team. The manager will be responsible for maintaining expert-level product knowledge and documenting sales activities accurately in the CRM system. Frequent travel within the market/territory is expected, with up to 90% travel and some overnight stays required.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire new qualified customers and expand sales volume within existing accounts.
  • Develop goals and strategies to increase revenue and profitability in the sales territory.
  • Generate leads, qualify prospects, and create a robust sales pipeline.
  • Organize and lead sales presentations and proposals for prospects.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Manage accounts and conduct quarterly or annual business reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to share information and demonstrate product value.
  • Close new qualified, profitable business and support project transitions to the Reliability Services Team.
  • Maintain expert-level product knowledge and professional sales techniques.
  • Document sales activity and progression through the sales pipeline in CRM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 3 years of proven new business acquisition and consultative selling experience.
  • Strong technical and business aptitude required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong math skills and financial knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of proven record of sales/technical sales success in solution-based, consultative selling environments.
  • Background in petroleum and lubricants or relevant industry preferred.
  • MLT and MLA certifications required (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • CLS, MLE certifications preferred.
