About the position

The Outside Sales Rep for Wholesale Distribution is a key role focused on selling a diverse range of building products within the Lumber and Building Materials industry. This position involves achieving sales targets through effective territory management and direct engagement with customers and contractors. The role emphasizes building and maintaining strong customer relationships while demonstrating professionalism and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of target sales by meeting with customers and maintaining relationships
  • Recommend service and product enhancements to improve sales potential
  • Analyze plans and trends to ensure best assignment of territories, clients, and service distribution
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge by reviewing professional publications and participating in industry networks
  • Establish sales objectives by projecting expected sales volumes and forecasting
  • Remain relevant with economic indicators, changing trends, supply and demand shifts, and product mix
  • Positively contribute to full sales and customer service teams
  • Develop and collaborate on long- and short-term sales strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of Outside Sales or direct to contractor sales experience in the Lumber, Building Materials, and Construction industries
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and plan

  • Market experience and knowledge
  • Ability to recognize the clients needs and sell within the catalog of products
  • Budget development
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
