The Outside Sales Representative position at Waste Connections involves selling commercial waste removal and disposal services. This role requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where the representative will prepare proposals, reach out to both new and existing customers, and effectively utilize the Salesforce-driven CRM tool, ARES. A significant portion of the job, approximately 60-70%, will be spent in the designated territory, focusing on prospecting and exploring market opportunities. The remaining time will be dedicated to team building, strategic planning, and account management with internal teams. As the main point of contact for a current book of business, the Outside Sales Representative will manage both commercial and industrial accounts. This includes gathering contract expiration dates, documenting existing customer concerns, and collaborating with other departments to address customer requests for service. The representative will also proactively communicate with customers to support the company's pricing initiatives and perform contractual resigns by building long-term customer relationships, aiming to increase customer profitability where appropriate. Additionally, the role requires the development and maintenance of a thorough knowledge of the company's available services, pricing structures, and the ability to offer additional services to assigned existing customers. Conducting waste stream analysis, which includes estimating volumes and recognizing waste streams that require special handling or can be recycled, is also a key responsibility. The representative will enhance company visibility by participating in company-sponsored activities, trade shows, chamber of commerce events, and similar activities.
