About the position

The Outside Sales Rep in the Lumber and Building Materials industry is responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving sales targets. This role requires effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer and contractor sites to demonstrate the value of the client's products.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of target sales by meeting with customers and maintaining relationships
  • Recommend service and product enhancements to improve sales potential
  • Analyze plans and trends to ensure best assignment of territories, clients, and service distribution
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge by reviewing professional publications and participating in industry networks
  • Establish sales objectives by projecting expected sales volumes and forecasting
  • Remain relevant with economic indicators, changing trends, supply and demand shifts, and product mix
  • Positively contribute to full sales and customer service teams
  • Develop and collaborate on long- and short-term sales strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of Outside Sales or Account Management experience
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, trusses, and building materials
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships with customers
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
