About the position

Atlantic Plywood Corporation, a Parksite company, is seeking a dedicated Territory Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in the building materials industry, particularly those who possess product knowledge and experience in wholesale sales. The Territory Manager will be responsible for developing new prospects and interacting with existing customers to drive sales growth. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities within core and emerging industries, ensuring that sales goals are met profitably. In this role, you will be tasked with managing sales volume for an established group of customers while also prospecting for new accounts. Your ability to forecast, bid, and develop strong relationships with key decision-makers will be crucial to your success. You will conduct on-site visits to customers, maintain existing partnerships, and build new ones, all while sharing valuable market and competitor insights with your team. Additionally, you will collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve any service issues promptly. The nature of this position requires a high degree of independence, with guidance provided only for complex problems. To be successful in this role, you should have a solid understanding of customer business needs and be familiar with Atlantic Plywood's product line. Strong selling and negotiating skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This position also requires the operation of a company vehicle or personal vehicle, with travel expectations exceeding 20% of the work week. A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is a prerequisite for this role, as Atlantic Plywood will conduct an MVR report upon selection.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site customer visits with new and existing customers.
  • Manage sales volume with an existing group of customers and successfully expand the customer base.
  • Forecast, prospect, and bid for new business opportunities.
  • Maintain existing customer relationships and build new partnerships.
  • Develop and sustain sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers.
  • Share market and competitor information with applicable channels within the organization.
  • Partner with customers, vendors, Credit, and A/R to resolve customer service issues quickly.
  • Identify customer product needs and coordinate execution of orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 2-5 years of experience in plywood/wholesale areas.
  • Knowledge of customer business needs.
  • Knowledge in Atlantic Plywood's product line and core customers.
  • Strong selling and negotiating skills in the wholesale goods industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience in outside sales (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in a similar role (Preferred)
