About the position

The Outside Sales Representative for the Bakersfield territory at Sunrise Food Service is a dynamic role focused on expanding the customer base and enhancing sales of bakery ingredients. This position offers an uncapped compensation program, rewarding high-performing sales leaders with the potential to earn a six-figure income. The representative will engage with customers directly, providing product information and ensuring customer satisfaction while working in a fast-paced, family-owned environment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel within the Bakersfield territory to meet prospects and customers.
  • Conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily.
  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product information in a concise and timely manner.
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to suggest specific products and solutions.
  • Suggest alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications.
  • Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase satisfaction and improve profitability.
  • Educate customers about products to improve sales and satisfaction.
  • Increase sales and average order size through cross-selling, up-selling, and add-on sales.
  • Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing satisfaction and resolve any issues.
  • Manage orders, communicating and following up with customers.
  • Provide account status updates including performance and recent activities.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and provide new item information and pricing.
  • Attend outside sales meetings and participate in sales activities as needed.
  • Maintain records of all sales leads and customer accounts.

Requirements

  • Preferred industry experience in Foodservice, Bakery, Route Sales, and/or Beverage.
  • Entrepreneurial can-do attitude constantly looking for ways to improve.
  • Outgoing personality with a passion for selling.
  • Ability to create vision and strategy and implement actionable plans.
  • Solutions-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Proven track record of developing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to penetrate and maximize existing accounts.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining relationships.
  • Excellent professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Positive attitude, competitive, goal-oriented, and passionate to excel.
