About the position

JASPER Engines & Transmissions, a leader in the automotive industry since 1942, is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join our team in Bergen County, NJ. In this role, you will serve as the face of the company, focusing on cultivating business relationships with customers in northeast New Jersey, including Newark. Your responsibilities will include calling on independent repair facilities, local fleets, city and government entities, marinas, and national accounts. It is essential that you reside within the territory to effectively manage and grow these relationships. You will utilize a proven system of selling, supported by marketing materials, to develop and implement plans that capitalize on all sales opportunities for your assigned customers. This includes performing needs assessments, developing sales proposals and presentations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as inside sales, customer service, production, and distribution. Your goal will be to introduce new products and updates while building long-term, value-based relationships with clients. A strong focus on prospecting will be crucial to growing the business and achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the face of the company and cultivate business relationships with customers in northeast New Jersey.
  • Call on independent repair facilities, local fleets, city and government entities, marinas, and national accounts.
  • Utilize a proven system of selling with supportive marketing material.
  • Develop and implement plans to take advantage of all sales opportunities for assigned customers in the territory.
  • Perform needs assessments and develop sales proposals and presentations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including inside sales, customer service, production, and distribution.
  • Plan and manage accounts effectively.
  • Introduce new products and updates to clients.
  • Develop and build long-term value-based relationships with customers.
  • Focus on prospecting to grow the business.

Requirements

  • A degree or two-plus years of sales experience.
  • A hunter sales mentality.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual.
  • Automotive background or knowledge is preferred.
  • Integrity and honesty in all dealings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outside sales within the automotive industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
