About the position

As an Outside Food Sales Representative at Gordon Food Service, you will play a crucial role in cultivating relationships and developing new business opportunities within the food service industry. This position is based in Miami Beach and is designed for individuals who are passionate about sales and customer service. You will be responsible for managing the overall sales efforts for both existing and prospective customers in your assigned territory. This includes not only pursuing new customers but also deepening and strengthening relationships with current clients. Your success will be measured by your ability to provide innovative solutions that help our customers achieve their goals, which in turn will help you meet your own performance objectives. In your role, you will engage in various activities aimed at understanding the needs of your customers and the market trends that impact the food service industry. This involves researching industry trends, identifying potential customers, and developing tailored sales strategies that highlight the products and services offered by Gordon Food Service. You will be expected to visit customers regularly, conduct business reviews, and provide ongoing training on our product offerings. Your ability to balance new customer acquisition with the nurturing of existing relationships will be key to your success. Gordon Food Service is committed to your professional development, especially during your first 90 days. You will participate in a comprehensive training program that includes e-learning, classroom sessions, video roleplays, job shadowing, and mentorship from experienced sales representatives. This training will equip you with the necessary skills to effectively manage customer relationships and utilize our systems and tools to enhance your sales efforts. You will learn about our product offerings, the sales process, and best practices for relationship management, all of which will prepare you to thrive in your new role.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Research industry and market trends impacting restaurants.
  • Identify and research prospective customers.
  • Develop and present sales strategies to prospective customers.
  • Visit all customers within the assigned territory on a regular basis.
  • Conduct business reviews to assess customer needs and growth opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing training to customers on product offerings.
  • Identify opportunities to add value through products and services.
  • Balance new customer acquisition with strengthening existing relationships.
  • Coordinate visits to prospective and existing customers.
  • Communicate order status and processing updates to customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or culinary certificate preferred.
  • 1 year of prior sales, business, or food service experience.
  • Maintaining a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain food safety certification.
  • Bilingual: Must be fluent in English and Spanish, Italian, or Russian.
