About the position

The Outside Sales Representative for the Commercial and Industrial Lighting division is responsible for driving sales by building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers. This role involves providing technical expertise and personalized support, including on-site installation assistance, to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers such as contractors, electricians, architects, and facility managers.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
  • Conduct product presentations, demos, and site visits to showcase lighting solutions that meet client needs.
  • Provide on-site and remote installation guidance to ensure proper application of lighting products.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and internal teams to resolve installation challenges promptly.
  • Conduct field market research and provide new product ideas including target markets and anticipated sales forecasts.
  • Provide training to clients and partners on new product offerings and installation best practices.
  • Develop and execute a territory plan to maximize sales in assigned regions.
  • Use CRM tools to track customer interactions and manage leads.
  • Ensure timely responses to customer inquiries and offer after-sales support.
  • Maintain existing accounts and manage within approved expense, returns, and discount budgets.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in commercial or industrial lighting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of lighting products, with hands-on installation experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a sales territory efficiently.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work-related experience in a business-related field.
  • 5-7+ years of lighting industry experience with a proven track record of success.
