About the position

As an Outside Sales Representative (Electrical Industrial) at Wesco, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and enhancing customer relationships within the electrical industrial sector. Your primary responsibility will be to develop new prospects and engage with assigned customers to boost sales and profit margins for the company's diverse range of products and services. This position emphasizes face-to-face selling and account management, requiring you to assess customer needs and recommend suitable products, services, or solutions to ensure a seamless sales process. Creativity and independence in your approach will be essential as you navigate various customer interactions, which may include technical, operational, supply chain, and executive management levels. In this role, you will be expected to prepare and deliver sales bids, presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations tailored to the specific needs of your customers. You will execute and expand upon assigned customer account plans developed in collaboration with management, focusing on billing margin initiatives through value-added services, marketing programs, and supplier engagement. Your ability to prospect potential customers through cold calling and referrals will be vital in identifying and understanding their product or service needs, allowing you to suggest appropriate solutions effectively. Maintaining customer satisfaction will be a priority, requiring ongoing communication and relationship management to resolve any post-sale issues. You will also keep existing and previous customers informed about new products, services, and enhancements that may interest them. Utilizing sales management tools for planning and documenting opportunities will be part of your daily activities, alongside developing your product knowledge through training provided by WESCO and its suppliers. Building strong relationships with suppliers through regular joint sales calls will further enhance your effectiveness in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Executes and expands assigned customer account plan(s) developed in conjunction with management.
  • Executes on billing margin initiatives through value added services, marketing programs, and supplier engagement.
  • Prospects potential customers, including cold calling and developing leads through referral channels.
  • Communicates with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
  • Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
  • Utilizes sales management tools for sales planning, supplier planning and documenting opportunities.
  • Develops and grows product knowledge through WESCO and supplier training.
  • Develops strong relationships with suppliers, including performing regular joint sales calls.
  • Provides quotations directly or in conjunction with sales support team.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Prior sales experience required, outside sales preferred.
  • Two years of industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel to current and potential clients and suppliers.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communicator both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.
