About the position

Richelieu Hardware is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to expand our business in the Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana regions. This role is pivotal in managing relationships and overseeing daily sales activities directed towards cabinet and furniture manufacturers, as well as residential and commercial woodworkers. The Outside Sales Representative will engage in structured consultative sales discussions, both in-person and virtually, acting as a business advisor to our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to sales, with a focus on understanding customer needs and providing tailored solutions to drive sales growth. The ideal candidate will have experience in sales, preferably in outside sales within the building materials or construction industries. A strong eagerness to learn and a passion for delivering customer solutions are essential. Knowledge or experience in areas such as building materials, kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, closets, and millwork is highly desirable. The role demands a self-motivated individual who can effectively manage their time and responsibilities, organize their schedule, and plan sales activities efficiently. Additionally, proficiency in using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) program to track daily activities, optimize sales calls, and follow up on customer requests is required. Candidates should also be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, to fulfill daily responsibilities. As this position involves regular travel, candidates must have reliable transportation and be prepared for in-person customer visits three to four days a week. The role may also involve occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow relationships with cabinet and furniture manufacturers in the assigned territory.
  • Conduct structured consultative sales discussions with customers both in-person and virtually.
  • Track daily activities and optimize sales calls using CRM software.
  • Follow up on customer requests and needs in a timely manner.
  • Organize and plan sales activities to achieve successful sales growth.
  • Provide solutions to customers based on their specific needs and requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales, preferably outside sales within the building materials or construction industries.
  • Knowledge or experience in building materials, kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, closets, or millwork is preferred.
  • Highly motivated and able to self-direct and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in using CRM software for tracking sales activities and customer interactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must have reliable transportation for regular travel to customer locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consultative sales techniques.
  • Familiarity with the hardware distribution industry.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 50 lbs.
