About the position

The Outside Sales Representative position at Four Seasons Disposal is a full-time role based in San Antonio, TX, with a focus on managing customer and community relationships to drive sales revenue in the commercial waste sector. The representative will be responsible for aggressively pursuing new business opportunities while maintaining and nurturing existing client relationships. This role requires a proactive approach to sales, utilizing various techniques such as prospecting, relationship building, and contract negotiation to achieve sales goals. The representative will work closely with the Sales Manager to define specific sales targets and will be expected to provide regular updates on sales activities and progress. In this position, the Outside Sales Representative will also explore and develop additional service line sales based on the trust established with customers. A thorough understanding of Four Seasons Disposal's services, including residential, commercial, and industrial waste management, is essential for providing accurate information and developing competitive bids. The representative will collaborate with the operations team to understand service capacity and profitability, ensuring that customer needs are met efficiently. The role involves significant interaction with local community and business decision-makers, including municipal officials and trade associations, to build a network of potential customers. The representative will also be responsible for addressing service issues with customers, utilizing emotional intelligence to handle difficult conversations effectively. Overall, this position requires a polished and professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a commitment to ethical practices in all customer interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Aggressively manage customer and community relationships to retain and gain sales revenue.
  • Utilize prospecting, relationship building, selling, contract negotiation, customer service techniques, and social media to gain new customers.
  • Sustain relationships and build a long-term loyal book of business with exceptional customer service.
  • Continue to explore and develop additional service line sales based on the trust developed with customers.
  • Rely on assistance from the customer service team as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager to define specific sales goals and measures of success for assigned territories and the company overall.
  • Produce sales goal updates and status report updates on a regular basis as required to document all sales efforts.
  • Keep all sales activity tracked and up-to-date in an acceptable format for quick reference and support of sales actions.
  • Always look for opportunities to add new services, improve services, and create a market edge.
  • Proactively explore market opportunities with the appropriate Four Seasons Disposal team members.
  • Interact with operations leadership and frontline associates to understand route and facility capacity, efficiency, and profitability related to service stops and customers.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all Four Seasons Disposal services including residential, commercial, industrial trash and recycling hauling, processing, transfer, and disposal services.
  • Understand and effectively communicate Four Seasons Disposal waste acceptance policies in an appropriate fashion to target audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with Four Seasons Disposal engineering team and specific associates designated with authority on waste acceptance decisions to find solutions to meet customer needs and protect Four Seasons Disposal interests.
  • Obtain feedback from Four Seasons Disposal safety team, and others as appropriate, to ensure the safety of Four Seasons Disposal associates are a priority in sales decisions.
  • Work with sales support staff to effectively manage administrative duties, customer needs, operational interactions, and to allow for the best use of time and targeted sales efforts.
  • Serve as a representative of Four Seasons Disposal to local community and business decision-makers, including municipal and county officials, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and similar organizations to network and build customer prospect opportunities.
  • Communicate with customers regarding service issues using appropriate emotional intelligence to effectively handle difficult conversations.
  • Use technology tools and provided software systems to gain efficiency and continuity of service.
  • Use social media, as appropriate, to build a community network and recognition as an industry expert.
  • Always present oneself in a polished and professional manner, both in appearance/dress and with a positive communication style.
  • Always apply the best judgement and ethical practice, treating all customers and the community as we would like to be treated.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 3 years prior experience in the trash/waste industry with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals REQUIRED.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Experience in technical sales.
