About the position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining and developing product sales within the assigned territory, which includes Central Florida, the Villages, Ocala, the Mid West Coast, and the Mid East Coast. This role requires the acquisition of new business accounts while upholding TFC's high standards of service. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and the capability to build strong relationships within the territory. The representative will personally call on accounts to promote TFC's product portfolio, prospect for new accounts, and evaluate customer needs to suggest appropriate products. In addition to meeting and exceeding sales goals and quotas, the representative must demonstrate strong business acumen to protect the interests of TFC, its supplier partners, and valued customers. Effective time management is crucial to meet order deadlines and delivery dates. The role also involves resolving issues with buyers in a timely manner, demonstrating leadership qualities, and participating in regular team sales meetings. The representative should be comfortable speaking publicly about products and events during staff training or promotional events. The position requires a clean driving record and a valid state driver's license, as travel within the established geographic areas is necessary. The representative will also ensure accounts are current on payments and assist in collecting payments when necessary. Respectful treatment of all employees, management, vendors, and customers is expected at all times. The role may also involve physical exertion, including lifting products weighing between 20 to 40 lbs occasionally. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Personally call on accounts in the assigned geographic territory to promote TFC's portfolio
  • Prospect and open new accounts
  • Anticipate and evaluate customer needs and suggest products accordingly
  • Develop sales and product knowledge to effectively educate and train accounts on products
  • Regularly meet and exceed sales goals and quotas
  • Encompass a strong business acumen to protect the interests of TFC, supplier partners, and customers
  • Manage time effectively to meet order deadlines and delivery dates/cutoffs
  • Professionally communicate with buyers to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate leadership and entrepreneurial qualities
  • Attend and participate in regular team sales meetings
  • Comfortably speak publicly about products and events at staff trainings or promotional events
  • Ensure accounts are current on payments and assist in collecting payments when necessary
  • Respond to buyer requests and inquiries with a sense of urgency and timeliness

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong persuasive presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Background or experience in the flooring industry is a plus
  • Valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Attendance is an essential job requirement
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Experience in outside sales for at least 1 year
  • Knowledge of flooring distribution and sales
